Perhaps one of the best takeaways from a senior session is the sense of that individuals style. From their clothing options to their choice of location to the overall mood and energy they bring; each and every session is completely unique.
How many people have had the opportunity to glimpse their parents or grandparents senior portraits? Usually boasting one or two poses {or, gasp! The ever popular two image fade of them gazing toward themselves in the upper corner of the image…}, maybe a crushed velvet suit or an extra inch of hair volume makes an appearance. A beaming grin or a sly smirk. Even still–those old portraits hold a story of a different place. A different time.
And that’s why I long to make senior sessions personal. You pick the location, you choose your clothes, you make it into something that’s completely and utterly you. For posterity, sure, but also because that’s what your senior year should be all about…You.
