To think a week ago yesterday this was what I was looking at…

I started Friday of my Super Holiday Weekend with a fondue night with the ladies, some of which I haven’t seen since high school! We had a great time reminising, catching up and hanging out!

Being smart, I decided to leave at midnight to try to make it back home amidst the blowing snow. A trip that should have taken about 40 minutes took an hour and fifteen, but I made it to my parents house and crashed for the night…This weekend was supposed to be plump full of Christmas cookie baking, Christmas shopping, hot cocoa and joyful spirits…however, Mother Nature put a little twist in our giddy-up. Saturday brought a record high December snowfall and blizzard conditions. Whenever I hear of a blizzard, I always think of the Laura Ingles Wilder series and how all the animals were stuck in the barn and they were snowed in for days. Our blizzard was not quite that intense, but it was still awesome to watch the cold flakes flurry around outside, while we stayed warm and dry inside, mug of cocoa in hand. My mother has always been prepared for such a predicament with a well stocked pantry, warm gas fireplace, movies, Mexican Train and…yay…a joyful spirit. Yes, there are definitely worse places to be trapped for a weekend.

Dad plowing a path to the neighbors house last night.

Unlike the Metrodome, our house was fine. A little furnace trouble, but I think I know a guy who can help out with that. The coffee is brewing, the waffles are baking, the bacon is frying, and the dad is plowing. Yes, for sure there are worse places to be stuck for the weekend.
