The strength of a family, like the strength of an army, lies in its loyalty to each other.

This session started out just the same as most other sessions-a mom calls a photographer, picks a date and talks through the details. The weather ends up being rainy and, after rescheduling a bunch a times, they finally nail the perfect sunshine day. Laughs are had, poses are struck, memories are made, life is captured. Everyone is happy and goes along their merry way.

And then life hands you a big fat stinking turd.

Jessica was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple short weeks after this session.

While the battle has not been a short one, nor even close to simple or easy, there is a very thin sliver of a silver lining. Through the doctor appointments, treatments, diagnosis, side effects, the ish, the muck and the absolute worst, she has aided herself with a steadfast and loyal army. The strongest of sons, an unrelentingly loving and supportive husband along with positively resilient hockey and firefighter families and unstoppable life-long friends…offering a glimmer of hope and heaps of love. Shoulder to shoulder on the front line, all right there with her, while she slowly but surely kicks cancer’s ass.
