I’m often asked about my favorite subjects to photograph. Usually, I pause and think…
…well, I’m running around and playing with little kiddos now, so it’s little kids!
…I’m hanging out with a super cool senior and getting to know more about this stranger, so I think it’s probably seniors!
…this wedding is wicked fun and all these people are so nice and happy, I think my favorites are weddings!
…this baby is so soft and cuddly, I could snuggle her all day long, I do believe my favorites are babies!
…this family is absolutely captivating with their inside jokes and sweet glances and little hugs-man, I love photographing families!
I suppose it’s safe to say I’m currently undecided.
But, really what it all boils down to is that I love photographing love. The love of a mother as she looks on a little teary-eyed as I pose her son for his senior portraits. The love between siblings as they razz on each other. The love a husband has for his wife of 30+ years. The bonds, the glances, the gestures, the smiles…the beginnings and chapters of stories that will continue for years and decades to come. To be a part of that, in someone elses’ life, is truly a gift and my most favorite, favorite part of photography.
