I love my new lens.
At the end of 2010, and right before Shelby and Edwin’s wedding, I decided I needed to get a new lens–the 85mm 1.2L, to be exact. <sigh> It’s so becoming my favorite. I love the shallow depth of field, the bokeh is breathtaking, the sharpness stunning. But, with the lens wide open at 1.2, I was finding it difficult to focus on what I wanted to–usually, the eyes. And since practice makes perfect, I set out for a non-job photo experience and, lo and behold, found the perfect opportunity. See, I was going to use my sister to try out some ideas, but when I got to her house, I was inspired to photograph bits and pieces of her business instead. I give you my experimental shoot: Little Foot Daycare. (insert shameless plug here) 😉
And, of course, Gavinn. 😉
(These are basically straight out of the camera, very little editing involved. Love his crisp eyes!!)
Let me preface this by saying that I never went to daycare as my mom stayed at home with us till I went to kindergarten. That being said…I would have so rocked at daycare. Tawna’s got all these toys, books, music, ideas…it’s awesome. She even does day of the week, weather of the day (the kids dress the frog on the wall in accordance with the weather outside!), birthday crafts and everyday projects. She’s not a believer in planting the kids in front of the tv, which is sweet, and prefers to work with structured time.
She fills out daily reports for the parents recording eating habits, challenges, praise and any other interesting tidbits from the day.
Just my luck, I showed up on painting day!! The boys weren’t really sure what to think of the paint at first, but they plunged right in, hand prints and all.
Like what you see? Think this daycare is totally bomb-diggity (which it is, rest assured)? She’s got a few openings left, so shoot me a message if you’re interested in having your kids go here and I can get you hooked up!!! (I warned you at the beginning that this was a blatant plug…what can I say!?) 🙂
I know I’ve been a bit lax in the blogging department, but I assure you, I’m as busy as ever! Album design, client meetings and restructuring the business are keeping me incredibly busy. A few new changes are in store and I’m pretty pumped about them!! I hope to return to a more regular blogging schedule very soon–thanks for sticking around!!!!
WOW Tawna’s got a great daycare started, although it would be more like an activity center. Great Job!!
Tawna is just so impressive. You have to be a VERY special kind of person to take care of other people’s kids AND love doing it…she’s awesome.
And I’m super excited to hear about the changes in your business!! Exciting!
Yes, I need daycare- for myself. I am a bit rowdy and easily distracted but i know how to share and seldom bite. I also am an avid finger painter-i got skills in that area. DO you think she would have an opening for me?
