St. Patrick’s day, to a non-Irish family- may mean an excuse to drink green beer, wear green and participate in some light-hearted shenanigans. In our mostly English/Scandanavian/German family, however, we use it as a day to drink green milk, eat as much green food as possible {naturally and some very un-naturally hued}, decorate in shamrocks, blinky lights, flashy necklaces and birthday balloons. On St. Patty’s day we get together to celebrate the birthday of my one and only sis.

So, this 17th of March, I lift my green-tinted beverage to the one with all the energy. The one who cleans, cooks, creates and gives for her family. The one who laughs, scares her children, and devotes her time to God. The one who drives us all nuts. The one we love the most. The one we wouldn’t change for the world.

Happy Birthday, Cletus!!
