The church stood almost as if it was waiting; vacant and silent among the whispering pines and dancing fall leaves. The trees swayed back and forth, keeping in rhythm with the lapping waves from the lake below providing a calming tranquility as they snuggled together. Keeping each other warm from the bitter gentle wind, they reminisced back to those first few weeks of getting to know each other. Through car rides and walks, random passings and seemingly innocent exchanges, they enjoyed each others company and grew close. Inseparable.

There is a rumor on the campuses of St. Benedict and St. John’s that if a Bennie and a Johnnie go on a walk through the winding woods on the well-beaten path to the Stella Maris Chapel together, that they will one day be married.

And just a few short years later…these two will be.
