I have been trying to narrow down my business and really concentrate on a particular niche…which is far easier said than done. People often ask me what my favorite thing to photograph is, and I’d have to say weddings and engagements are really my front runners…but every other day it’s newborns…and at least twice a week it’s the kiddos…seniors on days that end in Y…and then when I come across a family like this…I remember my lost love of family photography.

😉

Indecisive much? Imagine what it’s like planning a wedding with me. Poor Mr. Nick…!

I tend to steer clear of traditional posing as, well, I hate it and it’s gross {meaning: no creativity} but it does have certain ice-breaker and longevity merits, so I keep traditional poses stuffed into my back pocket to use sparingly as necessary {see image one}. I much prefer what I call ‘loose’ posing–I direct where to stand and give unbelievably {on purpose} vague directions and let you roll with it and pose as naturally as possible with a camera pointed in your general direction {see all images after image one}. If something looks ridiculous, I then offer up minor tweaks and adjustments until we’ve got GOLD, BABY! 🙂

These guys…were awesome. Hunter kept us all entertained as he searched the sky for airplanes, made daring feats of gravity, chased the pups, wrestled with his dad…he was pretty much the ring leader! Here’s to finding endless photographic options in your own backyard!!!

This little guy loves his aunt She-she {Shelly}! SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!
