Last night I had cream style corn delicately paired with a giant blue bowl of air popped popcorn for dinner. I had Hershey’s chocolate syrup, right out of the bottle, for dessert. I watched TV on mute and just read the captions. I hung out with my roommates. I delivered a set of wedding photos and met with another bride to discuss upcoming nuptials. I edited photos and listened to mood songs that called to mind particular events; rockin’ in the Blaze with ‘my boys’ (believe it or not, that’d be California Girls), how excited I am for love in general (yes, I can admit to the Internet world that I do have Baby by Justin Beiber on my iTunes. And, yes, I believe he’s 12, but I so like the song), how so thrilled I am with a particular session that I just finished editing (Baby Mine, Allison Kraus), memories of the café (Norah Jones)…I wore my beloved pajama pants for more than half the day. I continued to step over a dish that I broke last Thursday but I {heart} it so much that I can’t pick it up and throw it away because that will mean it’s gone forever. I visited a gravesite. I had four cups of coffee. I fell into love. I washed all my dishes twice and still the sink is full of cups. I ate half a package of chocolate chip crispy off-brand cookies. I fell asleep on my bed with nine pillows, underneath a handmade quilt, watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs for the third night in a row.

This, give or take, is an average day for me.

I say this because I don’t get to see this or know anything even close to this in about 97% of my clients. I don’t know that you prefer to wear something brown every day or that you need to watch at least two episodes of your favorite show every night or you just can’t function. I don’t know if you have a pet name or that you hate when people call you by said name. I have no idea what your favorite dessert is or that you’ve never been to the Mall of America. What I do know is that I have approximately 1 hour to come into your space and get to know you. Capture a special family moment. Coax out a real smile. Laugh and have fun while learning who you are, what you think, what’s important to you and what you are all about.

In reality, it’s a super fun part of the job.

Today I’m celebrating Mr. Nick’s birthday and am excited for him to ‘open’ his gift {shhhhhh!!}. Then I’m off for a weekend of no Internet connections, no cellular telephone access, boating, relaxing and spending time with family. That being said, I will not be answering my phone or returning emails until Tuesday. Holla!

No worries, my online comrades, I’ve pre-scheduled a few posts to keep you busy. Ooo, how tech savvy am I?!?! 😉

Here’s to a superb five-day weekend!!
